Latvia's PM resigns over supermarket roof collapse

latvia
Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis resigned Wednesday, appearing to accept ultimate political responsibility over the collapse last week of a supermarket roof in the capital Riga that killed 54 people.
At least 40 other people were wounded in the incident, one of Europe's worst roof-related disasters in several decades.
Dombrovskis was the longest serving prime minister in Latvia's history.
Police have opened a criminal investigation into the cause of last week's tragedy.
Preliminary reports indicate the roof caved in due to either faulty construction or building activities on the roof, where workers were creating a garden area and children's playground.
