Don’t Allow Sylva Travel Abroad, EFCC Urges Court

Mr Sylva, who is standing trial for alleged money laundering related offences, had in his application filed on 16 May 2013 told the court that his wife was scheduled for surgery in a United Kingdom hospital and needed his company.
He also urged the court to release his international passport to enable him embark on the trip and promised to return for trial and to also return the passport to the custody of the court after the trip. EFCC lawyer, John Anietor told the court that, “there are pending allegations being currently investigated about the wife of the accused/applicant, who deliberately now wants to travel outside the shores of the country in order to escape current investigations and probable trial if the need arises at the end.”
He said Mr Sylva’s wife is an adult and also has adult relatives and children who could accompany her on the medical trip abroad if need be, adding that, it is not the ex-governor, who is in need of medical attention abroad and urged the court to refuse the application in the interest of justice. The trial Judge, Justice Adamu Bello adjourned ruling on the application to 30 May 2013.

Is Brymo Leaving The Chocolate City Records?

According to Hiphop world...
Brymo has decided to call it quits with Chocolate City. This latestdevelopment occurs barely two months after former label mate JesseJagz walked away from the company.HipHopWorld has it on reliable information that the “Ara” singerofficially parted ways with ‘Choc City’ over the weekend; but bothparties have managed to keep a lid on the issue until now.
Brymo has been rumored to be not-so-friendly with some members of theChoc family; and apart from the business side of things, it doesn’tseem like ‘The Son of a Kapenta’ will be sorely missed by hisremaining label-mates.Chocolate City now only has M.I and Ice Prince left as its established acts.

PHCN Twitter account functioned only 24 hours in 2 years

An illustration
The official Twitter handle of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, Eko Distribution Zone, @PHCNEkoZone has only been active for 24 hours since it was created.
An investigation by our correspondent showed that the company’s Twitter account, which was opened on November 3, 2010, became dormant the day after.
Before then, the company had tweeted only one message announcing that it could be followed on Twitter.  “We are now on Twitter,” it said.
Nothing has been posted on the handle, which boasts a following of about 73 people, ever since that time.
Another handle credited to the PHCN on the social service, @PHCNnigeria, which was opened on April 10, 2011, was active for two days. Afterwards, it became dormant.

Ombatse Massacre: Tears At Funeral Service Of Slain SSS Officers

Tears flowed freely at the headquarters of State Security Service (SSS) in Abuja as ten fallen officers who died under mysterious circumstances during an operation against a cult group (Ombatse) at Eggon Village in Nasarawa State recently were honoured with candle light procession.
The atmosphere at the venue of the funeral service was tense and pathetic as relatives, friends and colleagues  of the deceased wept profusely.
The Director General of the Service, Chief of Defence Staff, National-Security  Adviser, Director General of NIA, Representative of Police, Corps Marshal, FRSC,  Commandant General,  Civil Defence Corps, Senate Leader, Minister of State for FCT, and others attended the event.
Speaking earlier at the occasion,  Director General of the Service, Ita Ekpenyong vowed that it is the enemies that would raise white flag but not the service. He said that the perpetrators have murdered sleep and would not have peace for the rest of their lives.
Ekpenyong expressed regret that moles have infiltrated the rank and file of Nigeria Police and other security agencies in the country which led to the untimely death of their men.
It would be recalled that about 45 security operatives lost their lives in Nasarawa State when troops sent to arrest the leader of a deadly cult  were ambushed and slaughtered by militiamen in the area.
The security operatives which comprised of officers of Nigeria Police, State Security Service (SSS) and Civil Defence Corps were all murdered in a cold blood on their way to the village.

New terror group emerges

Members of the Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa
As the country grapples with the terror activities of the fundamentalist Boko Haram sect, another terror group, Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa, has emerged.
Our correspondents gathered that the new sect also has a strong presence in Niger Republic.
Currently, two terrorist groups exist in Nigeria — Boko Haram and Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina fi Biladis Sudan.
SUNDAY PUNCH reports that there are fears in security circles that MOJAO may infiltrate the country due to the porous nature of Nigeria’s borders.
Minister of Interior, Mr. Abba Moro, had last week said there were 1,497 illegal routes into the country.
MOJAO, a splinter group of the international terror group, al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, is after military operatives and facilities of countries that are complementing France’s efforts in quelling terrorists’ insurgency in Mali.
Besides Niger, Nigeria, Chad and Bukina Faso are involved in military operations in Mali.
On Thursday, the Jihadist group claimed responsibility for a twin suicide bombing attack at the Nigerian/Nigerien border.

Pres Jonathan denies involvement in NGF elections

State House Press Release...
We have noted with regret the mischievous effort by sections of the mass media to portray President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as an interested party and the main loser in yesterday’s election of the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF).
Contrary to the impression of Presidential partisanship and interference in the affairs of the Governors Forum erroneously conveyed by some headlines in the media today, President Jonathan who is currently leading Nigeria’s delegation to the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa had no preferred candidate in the NGF elections and could therefore not have been “floored” by any other candidate as some newspapers sensationally reported.

Wife of House of Reps member accused to torturing two women

Wife of a serving House of Representatives member was fingered yesterday in the torture, beating and alleged attempt to kidnap two ladies in Isale Eko area of Lagos.

Sources say that yesterday morning at about 7.15a.m, a Toyota Camry car which was used for the operation caused a stir in Bamgbose Street in Lagos Island at the heart of Lagos metropolis.

Like a bolt from the blue, six unidentified ladies, carrying canes came out of the unregistered grey coloured car and advanced towards No 101, Bamgbose Street.

The unmasked ladies met one Alhaja Basidat Ajadi Balogun, a business woman resident in the street and repeatedly flogged her as she wept. (The woman pictured above)

Balogun, who was shouting at the top of her voice while the beating was going on, tried without success to find out from the rampaging ladies why she was being beaten.

BAYERN MUNICH CROWNED EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS

Robben ran on to Franck Ribery's backheeled flick-on in the area and calmly slotted the ball past goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller to give Bayern their first Champions League victory since 2001.
They had lost two of the past three finals.
Mario Mandzukic put Bayern ahead in the 60th minute at Wembley Stadium before Ilkay Gundogan levelled from the penalty spot eight minutes later, after defender Dante fouled Marco Reus in the area.
